Mozart was brought to Merton in an opera night at The Guardian Centre as part of the Colliers Wood Arts Festival.

Singers took to the stage for an adaptation of Mozart’s The Impresario with a modern twist.

Christopher Killerby was among those on stage with production company Opera Alegria in a translated adaptation of the opera.

Mr Killerby, who is also the musical programmer for the festival, said the modern twist at the event on Friday, March 14, was hilariously funny.

He said: "One of the audience members said they couldn't quite believe the quality of performance happening on their doorstep."

Naomi Kilby and Jodie Kearns also performed the Bastien and Bastienne and are going to be singing again in Two Sopranos, on Sunday, April 13, at Christ Church on Christchurch Road, as part of the arts festival.

The festival continues until Sunday, May 18, with classical music concerts, competitions, art workshops and a children’s cookery among the many events still to come.
