Fallen 300-year-old cedar tree could live on in Norbury Hall Park, Norbury
A historic tree which was toppled in a wintry storm could still play a part in a Croydon park’s future as work begins to clear it.
The cedar, which is estimated to be 300 years old, in Norbury Hall Park will be removed by Croydon Council contractors starting tomorrow (Wednesday, April 2).
People living in the area have contacted ward councillor Maggie Mansell saying they would still like it to be part of the park in some way.
Coun Mansell said: "It was a magnificent tree.
“I hope that some of it can be preserved. It has opened up a space which could become a picnic or play area."
