Children swapped the classroom for the great outdoors as they took to the track to raise money for Sport Relief.

Pupils at the Royal Kent Church of England Primary School, Oxshott, were set the challenge of running a total on 196 miles on Monday, March 24 – a mile for every year the school has existed.

But the speedy youngsters exceeded the target distance, running more than 300 miles.

Reception class children each ran four laps of the school playground, while year 6 children continued to run 15 laps each.

The run was started by former Fulham FC player, Jimmy Bullard, and more than £1,500 was raised.
