Boris Johnson has promised that work on the Malden Rushett crossroads will finally begin in September this year.

The junction is a major route from London to the M25, passing Chessington World of Adventures and regularly sees large tailbacks, with drivers reporting 'unsafe'

Speaking at a Mayor of London question time last night at Richard Challoner school he held his head in his hands and said: "I've been briefed to the eyeballs on this".

In 2011 residents were told budget cuts had delayed a scheme to revamp the junction.

The new plans were unveiled in June 2013 expected to begin early this year.

Malden Rushett Residents' Association chairman Beryl Gibson said earlier this year when works were delayed yet again: "The residents will be deeply disappointed.

"Obviously they've got to get it right and we want it right."

What's the odds that the Boris Bulldozers will "accidentally" clear a few adjoining acres of greenbelt for his mega housebuilding company director pals.

There's always one troll on the site that would rather criticise another forum member than make the effort to comment on the article. What a clown!

I dont even live in chessington so whats it got to do with me? If you want to live in an area that is all concrete than houses then be my guest. Grrenbelt has been that way for years for eveyone to enjoy, why should politicians suddenly choose to build on it and change the laws just because its the only thing they will think will save the economy whilst lining their own pockets.

Your so deluded that you think 70,000 houses will bring loads of business to the area. It wont. In my time living in Epsom 10's of thousands of houses have been built and there is less businesses there now then ever. Loads more traffic, over crowded schools, cant get an appointment at the doctors etc. Shame you dont have the intelligence to have a proper debate on the topic.
