A man suffered a fractured cheek bone after being punched unconscious while getting food from a kebab van in Weybridge.

The 38-year-old was at the van parked outside Waitrose in the High Street at about 1.20am on Sunday, March 23, when other people in the queue were involved in a scuffle.

The man was punched by a man and fell to the ground unconscious.

The attacker is described as white, between 5ft 7in and 6ft, about 20 to 25-years-old, with short brown hair and stubble.

He was believed to be wearing a pink shirt, grey hooded top and jeans and it is thought that he got into a taxi with another man and a woman, which went toward Addlestone.

The victim was taken to hospital with head and facial injuries, including a fractured cheek bone.

PC Yvonne Tatchley said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack and I would like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the events surrounding it to contact officers with information.

“Surrey Police will not tolerate antisocial behaviour of this kind I urge anyone with any information to contact police so that we bring the man responsible to justice. I particularly would like to hear from the taxi driver or the suspect’s associates.

“It is possible that those involved in the incident have spoken to others since it took place, and I would ask anyone who has obtained information to contact officers.”

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 45140022605 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
