A third of Kingston Hospital staff who took part in an annual survey said they suffered work-related stress last year.

The annual NHS staff survey also showed 16 per cent of the 388 workers who answered said they had experienced discrimination in the past year, above average for similar hospitals.

But 92 percent said they thought their work made a difference for patients – putting Kingston in the top fifth of acute hospitals in the country.

A report prepared for hospital board members said: “The trust’s results overall can best be described as ‘average’.

“The performance improvement between 2011 and 2012 was sustained and most results were unchanged, but because other organisations have also improved the trust’s relative position has declined a little.”
