This Is Local London: Trees: Twickenham Riverside Trees: Twickenham Riverside

Eight semi-mature pin oak trees are being planted along Twickenham embankment as part of its regeneration.

The improvements to the western side of the embankment have included resurfacing, new street furniture, new trees and planting as well as improved lighting.

Councillor Pamela Fleming said: “This is an historic moment at Twickenham Riverside.

“For years this site was unattractive to residents and visitors but its transformation into a beautiful riverside setting is nearing completion.”

It wont be attractive until the winos are moved on.

Its always surprised me the number that congregate around that area.

I have to, as painful as it is, agree with Bob. I went for a walk down on the embankment and through the gardens at York House both this weekend and last and the number of people drinking is shocking. On the benches facing the river and on the ones by the fountain. Plenty of evidence of other drinkers too by way of cans and bottles. Not just drinking either - plenty of shouting and other intimidating behaviour too. Not nice to see at 11am!

Such a shame as it's a lovely area.

I hope you reported this to the local community police. I think at least part of this site is a designated dispersal area, so they could probably have been asked to move on.
