A 39-year-old man from Twickenham died after his car hit a telegraph pole in Ockham, Surrey.

The man's black Audi A6 crashed into the pole in Old Lane in Ockham, near Cobham, at 1am on Saturday, March 22, morning.

Surrey Police, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Coast Ambulance Service quickly attended the scene.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: "The driver and sole occupant of the Audi, a man believed to be in his late 30s, was declared dead at the scene.

"The man has yet to be formally identified and his next of kin have been informed."

Inspector Pauline Dean appealed for anyone with information about the crash to come forward.

The road was closed near to the junction with the A3 Portsmouth Road and fully reopened shortly after 6am.
