The search for Pinky: Middlesex County Cricket Club on the hunt for new T20 mascot
Ever wondered what it would be like to be an official team mascot at one of the country’s most famous cricket grounds?
Well now could be the chance to find out as Middlesex County Cricket Club is on the hunt for a larger-than-life character who can take on the role of Pinky the Panther at their home games at the Kia Oval.
The club, which boasts the talents of England internationals Eoin Morgan and Steven Finn, is looking for someone to become their summer mascot for the Natwest T20 Blast.
A club spokesman said: “We’re searching for a permanent Pinky the Panther mascot this season and as the well-known phrase goes – ‘it could be you’.
“You need to be aged eighteen or over, be in good health, be definitely up for a laugh, have that special thing that we’re looking for, and most importantly, be available to appear at every single Middlesex NatWest T20 Blast match and Finals Day this year.”
The unusual job description involves “entertaining the crowd”, “showing off some unique Pinky-style dance moves” and “being a friend to everyone”.
The ideal candidate will also be “fit enough to romp to victory at Finals Day” and “have the kind of spirit and sense of adventure that will make Pinky the Panther the best loved and most popular mascot on the first-class circuit”.
The successful candidate will have all of their travel expenses covered, as well as receiving two free tickets to every Middlesex Panthers T20 Blast home game this season.
To apply, you must be aged 18 or over and able to attend a series of match dates between May 17 and August 23.
Applicants must send an email titled “I’m Pinky” to email@example.com with your name, address and date of birth, stating in less than 50 words why you feel you have what it takes to be Middlesex’s Pinky the Panther mascot.
The closing date for entries is midday this Friday, March 28. Successful applicants will be invited to auditions at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
