Do you know dedicated and selfless volunteers in Epsom and Ewell who should be recognised?  Now is your chance to nominate them for an award to celebrate their efforts.

Run by Epsom and Ewell Council, in partnership with Voluntary Action Mid Surrey (VAMS), the annual awards aim to recognise the contribution of volunteers who offer their time for the benefit of the community.

Volunteers can be nominated for their contributions to an organisation and its members over a period of five years or more, or individual involvement as part of a project that has made a real difference such as designing a website, fundraising, or providing outstanding support to an individual or a voluntary organisation.

Julia Gallagher, volunteering development manager for VAMS, said: "Many of the volunteers who receive the awards have often volunteered for decades supporting their organisations and this gives us a great opportunity to recognize and thank these often overlooked ‘local heroes’.

Volunteers will be presented with their awards by Epsom’s mayor at a special reception at the town hall on June 5 at 7.00 p.m.

For the first time this year there will be an award for Equality and Inclusion which will be presented by MP Chris Grayling.

To nominate a volunteer call 01372 722911, email volunteering@vamidsurrey.org or click here.

The closing date for nominations is Monday, April 21.
