Photographs taken by stroke survivors are on display at Epsom’s Ebbisham Centre.

The photographers exhibiting are members of Dyscover, a charity offering long-term support to people with aphasia - a communication disability affecting speech, reading, writing and understanding - most commonly caused by stroke.

The exhibition showcases the results of a six-week course, Tell a Story, Hear my Voice, which was completed by seven of the charity’s members.  Each participant produced a photo essay based around a hobby, interest or a subject they wished to explore, ranging from insomnia to sky-scapes.

The Dyscover members have been involved not only in taking the photographs but also in planning, staging and manning the exhibition.

Some of the photographs are by people who only have the use of one arm, with the other paralysed due to a stroke.
