The annual RideLondon cycling event will travel through the borough again this summer, it was announced this week.

Held on August 10, the day begins with 24,000 riders gathering in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to start at 6am.

The race ends in the traditional finish at the Mall.

Richmond Council cabinet member for highways and streetscene, Councillor Chris Harrison, said: “RideLondon is a hugely popular cycling festival that will draw thousands of visitors to Richmond.

“It is a massive boost to the borough’s profile and showcases why Richmond is London’s most attractive borough to live, work and visit.”

Mayor of London Boris Johnson added: “After last year’s roaring success, cyclists across London will be cheered to see the return of an event that has quickly established itself as an unmissable fixture.

“As well as bringing economic benefit to the capital, events such as Prudential RideLondon help to support our two-wheeled renaissance and I am confident this year's event will be even bigger and better.”
