A student and her teacher are savouring success after triumphing in a cookery competition.
Pupils from St Martha’s School, in Camlet Way, Barnet, held a Ready Steady Cook-style bake-off to raise money for two charities.
Brookwood Catering head chef Gary Stubs teamed up with deputy head girl Alexis Dobson, but their skills on the green pepper team were not enough to charm the audience.
It was headteacher Matthew Burke and head girl Amelia Tompkins, of the red tomato team, who were declared the winners by the pupils and parents who had come to watch.
The event raised money for the Passage Charity, which provides homeless people with food and shelter to help them get their money back on track.
Money raised will also go to the Magic Breakfast, which provides children in poorer areas with breakfast.
Mr Burke said: “It’s fantastic to see the local community supporting this wonderful event.
“It was a close call, but the red tomato team were voted the winners.”
