A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after colliding with a car this morning.

The man, approximately 20 years old, suffered injuries during the crash in Temple Road, Epsom, at 8.10am.

Ambulances were called to the scene and he was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting as a priority.

A South East Coast Ambulance spokesman said: "Paramedics said he might have had a seizure or fit of some kind before the incident but it is not confirmed.

"He’s come off his motorbike. He was fully conscious en route to hospital and had minor cuts and bruises."

A police spokeswoman said the collision involved a bronze Suzuki motorcycle and grey Ford Focus.

She said: "The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to St George's Hospital in Tooting for treatment to injuries sustained in the collision.

"At this stage they are not believed to be life threatening.

"Road closures were put in place in the immediate area while emergency crews attended the scene, recovery was made for the vehicles and an initial collision investigation was carried out."

An Epsom fire station spokesman confirmed they were also called to the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the collision should call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference P14080852.

Makes one wonder why a casualty is taken 9-10 miles to A&E at Tooting rather than to Epsom? Sounds like the injuries were not serious. Was Epsom "closed" for some reason, or maybe very busy? I hope this doesn't augur badly for EGH?
