Huge multi-million plans for Intu Bromley have been exclusively revealed to News Shopper.

The £24m proposals, which could change the face of the town centre, will include shopping centre refurbishments, new restaurants, a boutique cinema and a garden terrace.

Two stages of a three-tier project have already been confirmed, while renovations are scheduled to begin next month.

Meanwhile, work on an outdoor space, featuring five family restaurants, is set to begin later this year and Carluccio’s could open its doors as early as the coming summer.

Marc Myers, who was brought in as the new centre manager in December, unveiled his bold vision that he says will "transform" the town centre and turn Intu Bromley into a thriving "hub".

He told News Shopper: "It’s really exciting - it’s about making the customer experience better. It’s not just about shopping.

"We want to see people spending the day here with their families. We aim to deliver much more."

The 53-year-old mentioned a "change in emphasis" for Bromley and also touched on potential parking fears.

He noted: "This is a £24 million investment in the town - we’re a metro city and we want to maintain that status.

"Bromley is an affluent area - it’s got huge potential and we want people to stay in Bromley and shop here.

"It would be a risk to do nothing and I’m excited about what’s ahead.

"We do not anticipate parking congestion will increase significantly.

"Even after this development, Intu Bromley would still have more favourable parking standards than other recently constructed shopping malls in Greater London and well in excess of current Bromley and Great London Authority parking standards."

The project comes as a Westfield mall looks set for Croydon and Dartford’s Bluewater bosses press ahead with an expansion.

- 2015: Planning permission could be granted that will see millions more spent on a new boutique cinema and further leisure facilities that would be completed by 2017.
