Two of Barnet’s MPs were among a small group of politicians who accompanied David Cameron on his first official visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories.

Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer and Hendon MP Matthew Offord joined the Prime Minister as he addressed the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, last week.

Among the delegation were fellow Conservative MPs James Clappison, who represents Hertsmere, David Burrowes, of Enfield Southgate, and Ilford North MP Lee Scott.

During the visit, his first since entering office, Mr Cameron met with major players in the Middle East peace process, as well as visiting the Vashem Holocaust Museum.

Barnet’s MPs were chosen to join the visit because of their links with the large number of Jewish communities in their constituencies.

Mr Offord said: "I am delighted that Mr Cameron invited me to accompany him. His speech at the Knesset addressed issues of concern both within my constituency and also in the country. It was well received by members of the Knesset on all sides."
