Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after a charity box was stolen from St Peter’s Hospital.

The box was stolen from the wall of the hospital chapel on Sunday, February 9, at about 5.50am and officer believed the man pictured may be able to assist with the investigation.

The man is white, in his late teens or early 20s, of slim build and has short hair.

He was reported to have been smartly dressed and wearing black trainers with a white stripe. PC Andrew Waldron, investigating, said: “Not only is the theft of a charity collection box a callous crime in itself but it was forcibly removed from the wall of the chapel causing significant damage and will be costly to repair.

“The theft has caused a considerable amount of distress and inconvenience and we are determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

“As part of our enquiries we have identified one man on CCTV who we would like to speak to in connection with this incident.”

It is believed a hospital blanket was also stolen.

Anyone who recognises the man, or the man himself, should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 45140010679 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
