A Kidbrooke gas cylinder had to be cooled down to stop it exploding after a nearby garage burst into flames yesterday (March 16).
Fire crews tackled the Broad Walk blaze - which gutted the garage and damaged the outside of a neighbouring house.
A spokesman for the brigade said: "A cylinder in the area was cooled to ambient temperatures because cylinders can explode when exposed to heat. One person evacuated the property before crews arrived and no one was hurt."
Two fire engines from Eltham and Lee Green were called at 1.18pm and the fire was out at 2.34pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
