Tributes have continued to pour in for Bromley murder victim Ronald Parsons with one school friend describing him as "loyal and gentle".

Ronald Parsons, of Laurel Court, Cambridge Road was found dead at his home on March 2.

The cause of death is currently unconfirmed but Daniel Atkins, also of Laurel Court, Cambridge Road, has been charged with his murder.

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust discharged psychiatric patient Atkins from hospital only two days before Mr Parson's death.

Ian Wyatt, 69, of Woodlands Road, Green Street Green, lived in the same road as Mr Parsons - Whitehall Road in Bromley - when the two were boys.

Both attended Raglan Primary School in Raglan Road, Bromley, and although Mr Parsons was in the year above Mr Wyatt, they spent a lot of time together.

Mr Wyatt said: "He was a year older than me so we didn't go to class together but we used to go to school together.

"We used to play together when we were nine, 10 and 11-years-old. Then we were in the air training corps together from 11-years-old.

"I knew Ronald up until I got married and left the area at the age of about 20."

He added: "He was a nice, soft, gentle sort of character - a loyal friend, he'd do anything for you.

"He was unassuming and quiet. A more easy going sort of guy you couldn't wish to meet.

"We used to play with dinky toys together in the dirt and dig holes in the garden.

"I hadn't seen him for a long time but it was a real shock when I found out.

"I opened the newspaper, leafed through it and looked at the piece and thought: 'It's Ron Parsons'."

Daniel Atkins is due to appear at the Old Bailey on May 22.
