Estate agents called out numbers slightly lower than north London house prices when they spent the day volunteering with elderly people.

Daniel Grayson and Josh Finestone, of Ellis and Co, in Golders Green, visited the Meritage Centre, in Greyhound Hill, Hendon.

Run by Age UK in Barnet, they joined in with activities including bingo tournaments, and spent the afternoon getting to know the centre’s members.

Mr Grayson said: “We didn’t know what to expect when we walked through the doors, but we were made to feel extremely welcome and put to work straight away serving tea and coffee to groups.

“We listened with great interest as we were drawn into their personal stories of years gone by, their challenges and their experiences.

“It was so enlightening thinking about their experiences and outlook on life today. We enjoyed their company as much as they enjoyed ours.”
