A festival on Blackheath organised by murdered teenager Jimmy Mizen's family can go ahead this summer after being granted a licence.

There had been several objections to the Good Hope Festival, including concerns from Greenwich councillors that the licence would be granted in perpetuity rather than just for one year.

However, organiser Tommy Mizen - Jimmy's brother - has vowed to hold a public meeting to review the event after it takes place on August 2 and 3 this year.

And a Lewisham Council licensing committee last night (March 12) agreed the festival could go ahead - putting on a programme of live music, arts and entertainment with the aim of promoting peace.

Mr Mizen said: "I don't think there was actually that much argument over it in the end."

He went on: "We're extremely happy. Now we can really focus on the actual festival - we have the land and we have the licence."

See, there was little fuss to be made over the whole issue wasn't there? so glad that he Mizens got their licence and I hope the festival goes really well and reaps loads for the charity. Well done.

And the most fuss was made by you - see, it was in the end a complete none story as they would have got permission anyway. It was just a small story about some NIMBYs and nothing to do with anything else, no racial connection, nothing. Just don't know why it got you so worked up... *yawn*

It rather seems it is you who gets very worked up over issues if your lengthy whining diatribes are anything to go by. NIMBYS, police objections it may be, but would any of this had made news had it been some multi cultural event taking place on the heath? No. Thought not. I rest my case.
