A flower festival with dazzling displays heralded the start of spring as the sun came out on Saturday.
The Herald of Spring at Bourne Hall, in Spring Street, Ewell, celebrated the community’s relationship with spring flowers.
Prizes went to both experienced gardeners and children with green fingers at the day held in association with Ashtead Park Garden Centre.
Bourne Hall curator Jeremy Harte said more than 1,000 people, including lots of families, came to the event.
Mr Harte said: "It went very well. We are extremely grateful to everybody who took part."
He said four girls from Southfield Park Primary School received the most votes from the public for their model garden.
