Councillors will take to the streets of Enfield to encourage smokers to kick the habit as part of national No Smoking Day.

Free advice will be offered to people in Enfield Market Place from 9.30am to 4pm in Enfield Market Place today, and from 10am to 12pm at Chase Farm Hospital.

Councillor Christine Hamilton, cabinet member for community wellbeing and public health, said: “I want to encourage smokers to join the growing number of people who are giving it up.

“Although it is hard, help is available to support those who are trying. And what is more, there are real gains – not least the cost of cigarettes, which for a regular supply would cost about £2,000 a year.

“So I say save money, improve health and live longer – it’s time to give it up.”
