A NORTHWOOD teenager is taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation.

David Braham, of Bourne End Road, a former Watford Grammar School pupil, now a medical student at Nottingham University will be climbing the tallest free-standing mountain in the world this August.

The trek will take him six days in total and will test his ability to survive extreme exhaustion, altitude sickness and temperatures up to minus 20 degrees.

He said "I wanted to do something that I've never done before, challenge myself to the limit.”

The MRF funds life-saving awareness and individual support for those affected by meningitis and septicaemia.

David is hoping to raise at least £3,000 for the charity.
