Colourful blossoms brightened up Barnet this weekend during the first warm spells of the year.

Temperatures in the capital hit a summer-like 18 degrees on Sunday, almost double the average March temperature.

Recent heavy rain was a distant memory as people across Barnet got out to enjoy the borough’s parks and open spaces.

Twitter user 'Barnet Rebel’ snapped this impressive photograph of bright pink blossoms on some hawthorn trees in East Barnet.

Temperatures are expected to drop again this week, with a high of 11 degrees today (Monday) rising to a possible 13 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.
