A new programme for cancer patients and their families will be rolled out across Barnet and Enfield.
The North London Hospice is working with Macmillan Cancer Support to trial a new home care service.
Macmillan Specialist Care at Home will be led by a community-based consultant doctor, working with a team of nurses to provide unique care.
The hospice cares for people in Barnet and Enfield and the programme will start in April 2014 and run until 2016, and Nottingham University’s Sue Ryder Centre will undertake a feasibility study.
North London Hospice chief executive Pam McClinton said: “North London Hospice has delivered specialist palliative care at home for almost three decades now.
“We are delighted to be working with Macmillan Cancer Support to explore ways that we can extend and enhance our specialist home service that benefits both patient’s and families.
“Our vision is that everyone in our diverse community affected by potentially life threatening illness has equal access to the services and support they need to optimise their quality of life.”
