A daredevil aims to raise more than £1,000 for the Princess Alice Hospice by skydiving from 10,000ft.

Robert Haigh, 28, of Montfort Road, Sunbury, has strong personal connections to the Esher hospice after it looked after his brother Leigh two years ago.

Mr Haigh said: “They were so caring to my brother and were amazing to my mum, sister in law and nieces. The nurses were really good at looking after the whole family.”

The skydive marks the third anniversary of his brother’s death and will be Mr Haigh’s biggest fundraising challenge yet, previous efforts having included sponsored walks and a jumble sale.

He said: “I’ve never done a big challenge before. I am really scared of heights, I feel quite uneasy on a ladder. I made sure to book it on the day I came up with the idea so there was no backing down.”

Princess Alice Hospice cares for terminally ill adults across a large part of Surrey, south-west London and Middlesex. M

ore than £8m is needed each year to provide these vital services and with limited NHS funding more than 76 per cent of the money must be raised through donations For more details, visit at justgiving.com/Rob-Haigh0.
