Pubs in Redhill and Woodhatch are to put their locals' grey matter to the test in fundraising quizzes this month.

The Plough in St John's, Redhill, and The Beehive in Dovers Green Road, Woodhatch, are to hold a Mad March Quiz in aid of local hospices, including St Catherine's Hospice in Crawley, which serves the East Surrey area.

The Plough will hold its quiz next Wednesday (March 12) at 8pm, and The Beehive on Saturday, March 22, at 9pm.

St Catherine’s, which is based in Malthouse Road, Southgate, Crawley, also has a hospice in Caterham.

Michaela Clements, fundraising assistant at St Catherine's Hospice, said: "We are excited to take part in this initiative, and grateful to the pubs that are helping to raise money.”

She said: “Hospice care and care-at-home are vital and invaluable for the people that receive them.

“We have to raise £15,000 every day for St Catherine's Hospice to continue to provide free care to terminally ill local people, and initiatives like this make a huge difference." The Mad March quizzes are being run in conjunction with Friends of Sussex Hospices, and will raise money for local hospices and care-at-home providers serving adults and children.
