An award-winning Barnes pianist will play a show in his hometown before he embarks on a music-making marathon.

Pianist Anthony Hewitt has challenged himself to record all 89 of Russian Composer Alexander Scriabin’s Preludes and, in preparation, will give a celebrity recital at the OSO, playing Scriabin and one of the composer’s great influences, Chopin.

Last year the self-proclaimed Olympianist cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats with a van and grand piano in tow and gave more than 30 concerts en route - all for charity.

Before the concert, pianist and teacher Melanie Spanswick will give a talk on how to choose the right instrument and what to look for in a music teacher.

Tickets can be purchased just for the talk, which starts at 5.30pm, or combined for the concert at 7.30pm.
