Extra police patrols have been brought into Falconwood and Welling to try and deter burglaries and thefts.

In a letter sent out by Inspector Paul Sanders to residents he said 'over the last few months there has been an increase in the number of residential burglaries in the Falconwood and Welling area.

He said: "This problem has not yet abated despite extra police resources patrolling the area and police operations being conducted to target this area and crime.

"There have been arrests made but we are not out of the woods yet. I urge you to remain vigilant and report cold callers."

Inspector Sanders also urges residents with valuables like expensive golf clubs, fishing gear, power tools or expensive cycles to put them in lockable garages rather than garden sheds.

He also urged drivers to keep valuables out of sight including Sat Navs and power tools.
