Two Plumstead women have been jailed for a total of 21 years after a “vicious” two-hour attack during which they hit another woman with a metal pole to stop her fleeing.
The victim had a cut to her head, fractured eye socket, stab wounds to her face and had to use crutches for months following the assault in Plumstead on July 25 last year.
Kelle Adams Bell-Chambers, aged 35, of Vernham Road, was sentenced on February 25 at Woolwich Crown Court to 11 years in prison for GBH with intent.
Monique Bracher, aged 33, of Long Walk, was sentenced to 10 years at the same court for GBH with intent.
The court heard how the 34-year-old victim had arranged to stay at Adams Bell Chambers’ house and while she was asleep the pair launched the attack.
She passed out several times during the assault and tried to leave but was hit with a metal pole across her knees to prevent her walking away.
The victim eventually escaped and called for help.
Officers believe a disagreement over criminal damage at Adams Bell-Chambers' home was a trigger for the assault.
Detective Constable Carly Walker, from Plumstead’s community safety unit, said: "The victim survived an incredibly vicious attack and the level of her injuries show the violence and force applied during the attack.
“I hope she will be able to put this terrible experience behind her and that both Bracher and Adams Bell-Chambers will take some time behind bars to reflect on what they did."
Bracher and Adams Bell-Chambers were arrested on July 30 and were both interviewed at Plumstead police station.
They denied attacking the victim and instead told officers that they had found her already injured.
They were both found guilty of GBH with intent at Woolwich Crown Court on January 27.
