Women’s achievements throughout the years will be celebrated as part of a day to “inspire change”.

Harrow Borough Council is inviting people to take part in International Women’s Day, which marks the political, social and economic achievements of women.

The theme of this year’s event is inspiring change, and Mayor Councillor Nana Asante will hold a convention in her chambers.

Council leader Councillor Susan Hall, and entrepreneurs in the health and wellbeing industry will speak on the theme and champion achievements of independent women.

Cllr Asante said: “International Women’s Day is about celebrating the great achievements of women around the world.

“We want to Inspire Change by sharing stories of overcoming challenges, empowering women and girls to embrace positive change.

“It is your chance to hear about the success of others, begin your own journey to success and equality or share your story.”

People will also be given health and fitness tips and demonstrations, as well as a performance by Harrow Community Choir.

There will also be a market room with a range of stalls selling health, relaxation and pampering products, a therapy room with a range of therapies, and speakers and presentations throughout the day and free health checks.

The event takes place at the Civic Centre in Station Road on Saturday from 12pm. For more information, visit www.relaxday.eventbrite.co.uk
