Whipps Cross Hospital’s trust is undertaking a major recruitment drive for nurses at the Leytonstone hospital.

Barts Health NHS Trust, the largest in the health service, is looking for band five nurses in order to reach its target of employing 95 per cent permanent staff across its six London hospitals.

High numbers of agency staff have been blamed for poor performance at Whipps Cross in the past.

Minimising expensive agency staff numbers will save "significant" money, bosses say.

In July it was reported that the trust needed to save more than £75m by April this year.

Shortlisted candidates will be fast-tracked to interview and further recruitment days will be held in March and May.
