A junior doctor will swap his stethoscope for his trainers for a half marathon to raise cash for stroke survivors.

Michael Poon, a junior doctor at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, will run the 13 miles through Richmond Park on March 30 as part of the Richmond Resolution Run.

The doctor from Richmond said: “I see patients with stroke all the time and it is disheartening sometimes that I cannot do more to help them in the clinical setting.

“I am running for Stroke Association because of all the charitable work and research that they do in providing better prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.

“I also run for those memorable patients whom I have come across in my clinical practice.”
