Students at Reigate's Dunottar School for Girls were treated to a Transatlantic coaching team-up when an American lacrosse coach and a key member of Reigate Priory's Lacrosse Club joined forces.

The girls' special coaching session was co-hosted by Jenny Simpson, who was captain of the lacrosse team at the University of New Hampshire in the USA, at the NCAA Division I level from 2009 to 2013, and Holly McIntosh, sports coach and captain of the Dragonflies’ Ladies’ team, the recent winner of the South East League, Division 1 South title. Ms Simpson has also coached the CTLax lacrosse club in Connecticut, USA, and as well as teaching lacrosse part-time at Dunottar School, she is currently working with Surrey Sports Park through English Lacrosse, helping to develop the sport in the UK in the lead-up to the 2017 World Cup. The coaching session was also attended by pupils from Bletchingley's Hawthorns School, some of whom are, alongside some Dunottar students, members of the Dragonflies’ teams.

Parent Lisa Longstaff said: “The goalkeepers enjoyed an intensive coaching session with Jenny to help improve their skills and gain greater confidence, and with Holly and her assistant, Felicity Standing, covering basic drills and attack. “The day ended with some match play outside in the rare sunshine.”

Further training days are planned for late August and October half-term.
