Princess Alice Hospice volunteer ready for abseil adventure
A Princess Alice Hospice volunteer is swapping terrafirma for new heights as she raises money for the charity.
Jessica Bone, 15, from West Molesey, will abseil down the 90ft Queen’s Stand at Epsom Racecourse alongside other supporters of the Esher hospice as the fundraising event takes place for a fourth consecutive year.
Jessica regularly volunteers her time to support Princess Alice Hospice and first began helping out when her mother used to work next door to the shop on Old London Road, Kingston.
Jessica said: “Among other events, me and my family have helped at two midnight walks, various Santa fun runs and a number of the hospice’s summer fetes.”
Volunteering has helped the Rydens Enterprise School pupil to develop confidence to talk to people and to see how important the money raised by supporters is.
Jessica said: “I have never been abseiling before so I’m very excited to be giving it a go. I have, however, been indoor rock climbing many times so taking part in Over the Edge at Epsom seems like the next step.
“I am also looking forward to raising money and raising the profile of the Hospice through asking for sponsorship.”
The over the edge abseil takes place on March 22. To book a place, visit pah.org.uk/abseil.
