An artist with learning disabilities has raised £1,000 for the charity which supports him by auctioning-off one of his paintings.

Patrick Lacey donated the vibrant painting for sale and it caught the eye of Sarah and Martin Morris who are supporters of The Sunnybank Trust, which Mr Lacey attends.

The Epsom Guardian launched the Shine On appeal last May to help the charity ensure it can keep on running its weekly social club, Kites; a friendship scheme and independent advocacy service.

The Morrises said the picture is "fabulous".

Tom Rhind-Tutt MBE, founder of The Sunnybank Trust, said: "We are extremely grateful for the generosity of Sarah and Martin Morris and to Patrick for his hard work and talent.

"Opportunities like this are very rare for so many of the vulnerable people we support.

"This has been a great way to show the unique talents of people who are so often labelled by their disability.  Patrick is an extremely talented painter to whom we are grateful.

"None of this would have been possible without the support of Pine Lodge Day Services and his home Shardeloes which is run by CMG Ltd."
