PRIMARY schools in Greenwich are being expanded to cope with rising demand.
Greenwich Council's cabinet has approved schemes including the doubling of St Mary Magdalene's capacity from 420 to 840 places.
The six-year scheme will see extra pupils taught in a new site on the peninsula, opposite the existing Millennium primary school.
And the project could be expanded further in the future, creating an all-through school catering for children aged three to 19.
Other projects include increasing year sizes at Wingfield Primary School in Kidbrooke from 60 to 90, Eltham Church of England from 45 to 60 and Charlton's Our Lady of Grace from 30 to 60.
Cabinet member for children and young people Councillor Jackie Smith said: "With an expanding population, and new homes being built on many sites across the borough, it’s vital that we plan to ensure sufficient places for our children.
"By supporting these four successful and popular schools, we will be well-placed to ensure that children in the next few years have the chance to receive the education they deserve."
