A Richmond-based police officer has appeared in court accused of grievous bodily harm.
The alleged assault is in relation to an incident following the arrest of two men in Barnes in July 2012.
Juan Alarcon, 33, appeared at Southwark Crown Court yesterday (February 20).
Police said at the time of the incident the matter was referred to the IPCC and this was referred back to police for local management.
The incident is now being investigated by the Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
Mr Alarcon, a former police constable based on Teddington safer neighbourhood team, is on restricted duties and is due to enter a plea at the same court on May 8.
