A £1million library refurbishment is due to be completed next week.

Leyton Library, in High Road, has been closed for six months while the work takes place to upgrade facilities.

The project is part of an £5 million overhaul of library services across the borough.

Leyton Library will offer a new IT suite, new computers, a larger children’s library and a dedicated teenager’s library, including  new books, study space and computers.

Residents will also be able to apply for benefits, register births, pay council tax and report missed bin collections.

The Citizen’s Advice Bureau will also be on hand from 9am until 5pm Monday to Friday.

Each fortnight careers and education guidance will be available, in partnership with the University of East London and Birkbeck, University of London.

Employment and health assistance will also be offered.

The library will open on February 26.

Plans for Leytonstone Library’s £1.5million refurbishment can be viewed on the council’s website.
