PATRONS and staff of The New Inn in St Mary's Road, South Ealing, raised £1,000 over the Christmas period for two primary schools.

The pub held a quiz night and a Christmas raffle, with proceeds going to Little Ealing Primary School and Grange Primary.

Little Ealing head Laura Lund said: "We would like to extend our thanks to the staff and customers for all their hard work."

More than 100 people, including parents and staff from both schools, attended the quiz night.

New Inn owners Pascal and Caroline said: "We raised £500 for each school because they are two great schools local to us. It's nice that we can do our bit to help towards the children's education and learning by providing new equipment and facilities.”

The traditional Christmas raffle proceeds were also dedicated to the schools.

One happy customer of The New Inn won the star prize of a barrel of beer.

Grange head teacher Graham Beeden said: “The New Inn is a true friend of our school. “The children at Grange would like to thank all the customers who raised the money - the school pupil council looks forward to spending it!”

Both schools are planning to use the funds for additional educational and playground equipment.

Mrs Lund said it was wonderful to see such great community spirit at work.
