THE Duchess of Cambridge will spend Valentine's Day opening the ICAP Art Room at Northolt High School.

Head teacher Gloria Lowe said: “We are thrilled the Duchess is coming to recognise the significant impact the Art Room is already having.”

Each week, the Art Room will welcome up to 60 children aged 5-16 from the school and wider borough.

It will offer art as therapy, to help increase the self-esteem, confidence and independence of children experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Founder director of the Art Room, Juli Beattie, said: “We feel proud and honoured the Duchess will see the Art Room studio, meet with students who are benefiting from our therapeutic methodology and see for herself how we make a difference to young people’s lives and how we can work closely with the school to help them achieve.”

The Duchess became patron of the ICAP Art Room initiative on January 5, 2012.

Mrs Lowe is confident the Art Room partnership will continue to be an intrinsic aspect of the school’s work.

Northolt High will have the seventh Art Room in the UK.
