Enfield Residents Priority Fund has given more than £40,000 to community projects including music for children, outdoor chess and table tennis and a sewing project.

Money will be given to creative music sessions for disadvantaged children in Lower Edmonton as well as free public access to Queen Elizabeth II stadium in Donkey Lane, Enfield.

The fund has now given out £1.4million to community projects in the past 12 months.

The latest round was decided at an Enfield Borough Council meeting on Thursday, February 6.

Enfield Council’s cabinet member for culture, leisure, youth and localism, Councillor Bambos Charalambous, said: “The ERPF has gone from strength to strength, and I am delighted to see even more projects being agreed at this meeting.

“This month has more innovative projects, which have been designed by the community and funded by Enfield Council, which bring real benefit to the local area"

Other projects included:

  • Funding for Friends of Bury Lodge Group, to refurbish the chess board, undertake further landscaping and deliver more community events
  • Funding for the Friends of Town Park to install two outdoor table tennis tables
  • Funding for the Friends of Albany Park to purchase equipment to fit out their community café
  • Funding to provide ESOL sessions to the Turkish speaking learners in Highway Ward
  • Sewing project in Southbury Ward to help teach skills and build confidence. Enabling residents to produce, enhance and up- cycle their own items 
  • 'Gift for Friends'; an employment opportunity for residents with learning difficulties
  • A community notice board in Chase Ward
  • Funding to help restore the entrance gates, brick pillars and front fences of Aldersbrook Park.
