A national stage school and former queen of the jungle have teamed up to launch a new venture.

Charlie Brooks, best known for her role as Janine Butcher in EastEnders, will run the part-time theatre school alongside the Mark Jermin Stage School at Imber Court, Esher.

Ms Brooks, who lives in Thames Ditton and is a former theatre school student, said: “My training in drama and the performing arts has been integral in the success of my career.

“With the growing interest and competitive nature of the arts it is imperative that students receive expert training and tuition in order to prepare them for the nature of the industry.”

The Mark Jermin Stage School has a 20-year history, with youngsters going on to appeal in film television and theatre productions including Harry Potter, Hollyoaks and Billy Eilliot.

Ms Brooks, who won I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here in 2012, said: “I have lived in Thames Ditton for nearly 10 years and I am really excited to bring this established theatre school to the area and meeting some of Surrey’s up and coming talent.

“I’m delighted to be working with Mark in launching a new school. The Mark Jermin brand has an established history of success and we are keen to duplicate this locally by offering unique opportunities for children to get involved in our dance, drama and singing classes.”

Members of the school, aged four to 18, will also have the chance to sign up to the Mark Jermin agency and be represented to find work in the entertainment industry.

Mr Jermin said: “We think Esher is an ideal location to establish a part time stage school as it is a vibrant area with a hub of activity happening in the arts and a great choice of festivals to get involved with.”

The Mark Jermin Stage School is set to open at Imber Court, Ember Lane, on March 8.
