Houses in Kingston could be flooded by the river Thames because of relentless record-breaking rainfall.

A flood warning is still in place for the Thames between Raven's Ait and Teddington Weir, including the Hogsmill below Kingston University's Knights Park campus.

Lower Ham Road is closed between Richmond Road and Eastbury Road because of flooding.

Resident John Parrish said: "It looks quite threatening. We are not desperate yet.

"We don't have the same immediate threat as people across the river.

"It is slowly creeping up."

The river is "high and rising slowly", according to the Environment Agency, and will continue to rise for several days.
