A green-themed comedy night is being held to raise funds in memory of a 14-year-old boy.

Aaron Hearne, 25, from Carshalton, is holding a charity night in memory of his brother, Liam, who hanged himself in 2010 after claims he was bullied on Facebook.

The evening is all part of the NSPCC’s Go Green campaign raising funds to protect children from abuse.

The charity is encouraging people host green-themed events to raise enough money to take the new ChildLine Schools Service into schools across the country.

Hearne has taken part in a number of fundraising events in his brother’s memory including the London Marathon, busking and a spinathon.

The event will be the first the Liam Charity, set up by Aaron in memory of his brother, has held this year.

It will be hosted by local funnyman Gary Hollick and will features a range of comics including Hank Osasuna, who starred in Keith Lemon shows and the film, northern one-liner Chris Ashton and Julian Deane.

Aaron says: “I lost my brother in 2010 through suicide and in 2012 I set up a tribute fund with the aim of raising £100,000 for ChildLine but also making it a priority to raise awareness. Anything the NSPCC is running I like to get involved with and incorporate that within my fundraising.

“It’s a charity very close to my heart and I have great admiration for everything it does not only to support young people in their time of need but in rebuilding their lives. Obviously this comes at a cost.”

He is encouraging people to dress up in their green gear with an award going to the greenest guest.
