Supermarket swoop: Customers duck for cover as cake-craving Thamesmead bird flies around inside Morrisons

This Is Local London: The Morrisons bird The Morrisons bird

A THAMESMEAD bird has been causing panic in the aisles of Morrisons by swooping around the store.

Shoppers at the Twin Tumps Way branch have been ducking for cover from the small black starling which spent just over a day inside the shop.

But unflappable staff took a patient approach, putting up cages to try and catch the unusual customer, which had fixed its beady eyes on the store's baked goods.

One shopper, who snapped a picture of the uninvited guest late on February 6, said: "The staff were just standing there, watching and waiting while it flew around the fresh bread and cake aisle."

He added: "It certainly put me off buying any cakes."

A Morrisons spokeswoman said: "The bird has now left via a back exit. It's gone."

Must have been truly terrifying - PTSD claims to follow lol

Wonder if we're now going to be subjected to a rash of stories concerning a plague of 'killer birds' to add to the rats, spiders, ladybirds...

As I said before, it's a bit hard these days to get a job in retail, as so many of today's wasted youth must be seen to be offered posts first, then and only after will anyone else searching for something along that line of work get a look in. Other than that, as you know!!! that's not my line of work.
And as for getting in a flap, no I don;t think so, they are quite harmless small creatures really. I think you would cause more of a flap with your crass comments if I were to let them. Good job I don't let them MOST of the time isn't it?
