WOOLWICH police station will be formally closed down on February 25 before it is sold off.

Following the closure, officers from the Plumstead and Glyndon's Safer Neighbourhoods teams will move to an existing police base in Lakedale Road, Plumstead.

The Woolwich Common and Woolwich Riverside teams will move to the police patrol base in Warspite Road.

Superintendent Parm Sandhu from Greenwich police in Greenwich said: "I would personally like to reassure members of the public that their local policing teams will continue to patrol, monitor and police Woolwich. I am absolutely committed to ensure that, even though the station is closing, we will maintain the same level of service that we have provided to the area so far."

The nearest 24/7 police station remains Plumstead whilst Eltham police station will be opened Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm.

A mobile police station will visit General Gordon Square from 12pm to 2pm every Saturday.
