Quick-thinking residents helped police apprehend a man suspected of damaging cars in Walton.
North Surrey CID thanked the public after the incident on Sunday, February 2, at about 10pm in The Grove and Cottimore Lane.
A group of men were reported walking along The Grove and wing mirrors were kicked off several parked cars.
An owner of one of the damaged cars followed the group while his partner called the police.
PC Katy Darke, investigating, said: “This criminal damage has left a lot of people inconvenienced and with unwanted costs by having to get their cars repaired as a result.
“I would urge anyone who saw either the offence take place or anything suspicious in this area around the time of the offence to contact police with information.”
Three other damaged cars have been reported, but officers are urging any other victims to contact them with information.
Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 4510008399 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
- A 23-year-old man from Walton was arrested and has been released on bail until March 14 while the investigation continues.
