A man who harassed four people by sending offensive messages was given a restraining order and told to carry out unpaid work.

Joe Batten of Orpwood Close, Hampton, sent offensive text and video messages to Michelle Taylor and Devon Green on March 21 last year.

The 26-year-old also harassed Isabella Fideli and Charles Fideli by sending offensive messages between March 15 and 21 last year.

Batten was charged with two counts of harassment without violence and two counts of sending a communication conveying an offensive message.

He was handed a community order of one year to carry out unpaid work of 120 hours when he appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 29.

He was also given a restraining order against all four victims, which bans him from contacting them with until further notice, and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and £40 in costs.
